What happens when you bring together homemade-style pitha, khichuri, tea, games, a little healthy competition and a room full of Adelaide NSUers?
You get an evening that is hard to forget!
The Winter Pitha Utshob 2026 brought everyone together for a night filled with food, laughter, games and plenty of friendly rivalry. From debating the best pitha to fierce battles over quiz questions and games, the evening had something for everyone.
Jhal 1, Mishti 0! 🌶️
The pitha spread was one of the biggest highlights of the evening, with a fantastic variety for everyone to enjoy.
But there was one clear crowd favourite: Jhal Pitha!
The verdict from the night?
Jhal 1 – Mishti 0!
The spicy pitha certainly made its mark, with many attendees particularly appreciating its flavour and kick.
A room full of NSU stories 🤝
One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was the self-introduction session, bringing together alumni from different generations, batches and walks of life.
It was great to see familiar faces reconnect while newer connections were made across different graduating years. Everyone had a chance to introduce themselves, share a little about their NSU journey and exchange experiences.
The session highlighted just how diverse and connected the NSU alumni community is in Adelaide — and sparked plenty of conversations beyond the event.
With so many alumni from different batches coming together, there was a clear interest in creating more networking opportunities and alumni-focused gatherings in the future.
Pass the parcel (Pillow passing) gets seriously competitive 🎁
Next came the Pillow Passing / Pass the Parcel game, and things got surprisingly serious!
Traditionally, girls are often considered the experts when it comes to this kind of game, but the boys were certainly not going to sit this one out. The competition was top-notch, with everyone giving it their best.
In the end, Zia took the win and the gift, while Pritthika finished as runner-up.
As Zia put it:
“Amazing experience. Let’s do it again!”
Judging by the enthusiasm in the room, we may have to take that as a formal request.
Banani vs Bashundhara: The Kahoot Battle 🧠
Then came the Kahoot quiz, which somehow turned into a very serious Banani Campus vs Bashundhara Campus showdown.
The competition was fierce.
A question about which building was not part of the Banani campus left everyone guessing, with only 15% of attendees getting the correct answer – giving some of the seniors a clear upper hand in the quiz! After leading for much of the quiz and making it through the first 16 questions, one of the contenders suddenly lost the plot. Meanwhile, the eventual winner came charging through the final five questions and absolutely aced them.
A perfect example of why you should never celebrate too early in Kahoot!
Khichuri & Jhal Chicken: The feast that came too late 🍛
After all that excitement came the much-anticipated dinner: Khichuri and Jhal Chicken, catered once again by Tammi’s Kitchen.
The food was widely appreciated for its taste, although there was one small problem…
By dinner time, many attendees had already enjoyed plenty of pitha, snacks and tea. So while the feast looked fantastic, some very full stomachs simply could not do it justice!
Still, the taste received plenty of appreciation.
And then… The Lottery! 🎟️
The evening ended with another crowd favourite — the lottery.
This one was a little tricky, as everyone had to vote for their preferred choices. After the votes were counted, Pritthika emerged as the winner, followed by Rajshree as the 1st runner-up and Anzuman as the 2nd runner-up.

From spicy pitha and tea to pillow passing, Kahoot battles, lottery excitement and a very filling dinner, Winter Pitha Utshob 2026 was a wonderful evening of community and connection.
Most importantly, it was another opportunity for NSU alumni and friends to come together, catch up, laugh, compete and simply enjoy each other’s company.
And as the evening came to an end, attention already turned to what is next.
