Melbourne, Australia – Adelaide NSUers recently participated in the alumni gathering “Melbourne NSUers Reconnect” hosted by Melbourne NSUers, which brought together graduates, current students, faculty, and board members of North South University (NSU).
Reza Islam, Anita Fairuz, and Adiba Nujhat represented Adelaide NSUers at the event, sharing the journey and growth of the Adelaide chapter. The gathering highlighted NSU’s global vision and efforts to strengthen alumni engagement.
While introducing Adelaide NSUers, Reza Islam, Lead – Operations, Marketing & Communications, highlighted the working groups and their members. He also laid out the plan for the next year, focusing on bridging the gap between alumni chapters across Australia. Reza shared the success stories of new alumni who received direct assistance in securing jobs in a tough, if not challenging, Adelaide job market. He concluded on the note that the current alumni in South Australia are committed to further strengthening North South University’s engagement with universities based in Adelaide.
Reza Islam said, “As part of our community support, we have started pick-up services from airport and buddy support for new alumni coming to South Australia. We will continue to focus on assisting alumni to grow their careers and provide support for mental wellbeing wherever we can.”
Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Board of Trustees Founder Life Member, NSU Trust, said, “Our alumni are our strength – whether they are current students, graduates, or board members, they remain part of one NSU family.”
He added, “North South University now hosts over 30,000 students, supported by a strong global faculty network with PhDs from around the world.”
“No university can truly rise in global ranking without the active involvement of its alumni,” Mr. Ahmed said.
Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, addressed the gathering, saying, “Good afternoon and Assalamu Alaikum. It is indeed a great pleasure to meet Melbourne NSUers and their team again. Last February, I was here, and it has not even been a year since I was able to return to meet all of you. Thank you very much for your time and for giving us the opportunity to talk a little about North South University – where we are standing today – and the work we are doing for our alumni.”
On NSU’s new global alumni platform, Professor Chowdhury said, “My mission is to create a unified global platform where every NSU graduate, no matter where they live, can connect and be verified as part of the NSU community.”
He highlighted the university’s growing alumni network.
“We now have over 47,500 alumni worldwide, and almost half of them are based overseas.”
“Once connected to the alumni platform, you will be able to find your peers anywhere in the world—Melbourne, Adelaide, or any other city—through geo-based search,” Professor Chowdhury said.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed his excitement at seeing the Adelaide chapter represented at the gathering. He noted the strong engagement and shared mission of the Adelaide NSUers, highlighting the leadership they bring to the alumni community.
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, “I am truly overwhelmed that today we have the opportunity to see Adelaide NSUers here. Thank you very much to all the students who have come from Adelaide. You also share the same mission, Reza, and your leadership is commendable.”
Following this, he further acknowledged the contribution of Adelaide NSUers in strengthening alumni connections across Australia. He said, “I am grateful to see Adelaide NSUers here today – their participation shows how our alumni chapters across Australia are growing together.”
He also emphasised leadership transition within NSU: “This transition of leadership – from one alumni to the next generation – is what keeps the NSU spirit alive, like passing a baton in a relay race. NSU students have always known how to run clubs, organizations, and transitions better than most – this is one of our greatest strengths.”
Reflecting on North South University’s broader development, Professor Chowdhury said, “We are not just an academic institution; we are a vibrant, global university constantly evolving to match world-class standards. Today’s gathering reflects our collective goal – to unite North South University alumni worldwide and strengthen the bond with their alma mater.”
The Vice-Chancellor also launched the official website of Adelaide NSUers, marking the beginning of a new era. The website will serve as a key hub for both current and new alumni arriving in Adelaide, while also facilitating connections with other alumni chapters across Australia. Dr. Hasanuzzaman Sohail, Assistant Director of the Office of External Affairs, was also present at the event, where he shared the broader plan to connect with NSUers in the community and continue supporting the initiative for the betterment of alumni.
Adelaide NSUers look forward to continuing this momentum – supporting graduates in South Australia, strengthening ties with fellow alumni, and contributing to North South University’s global legacy. They thanked Melbourne NSUers for hosting the event and providing a platform where alumni chapters can collaborate and grow together.
